Jean-Xavier De Lestrade
Screenwriter, director / France

After studying law and journalism, Jean-Xavier de Lestrade made numerous reports for television. From the beginning of his career in the 1990s, he focused his documentary work on themes that questioned him: sexual violence, madness, death, exclusion, and the failings of the judicial system through documentaries such as Viols et châtiments, La Cavale des innocents, and L'Incte face à la justice. With Denis Poncet, whom he had just met, he joined forces with Bertrand Tavernier (Little Bear) and directed the documentaries La Vie jusqu'au bout, then Une Australie blanche et pure (FIPA d'Or). In 1999, with the company Maha Productions he created with Denis Poncet, Jean-Xavier de Lestrade directed between 2000 and 2005 a triptych on justice: La justice des hommes (Albert Londres Prize), Un coupable idéal (Oscar for best documentary film, Prix Italia) and The Staircase in French Soupçons (International Documentary Award, Peabody and DuPont Award). Jean-Xavier de Lestrade then began a feature-length fiction film that once again questions the theme of guilt, Sur ta joue ennemie, co-written with Gilles Taurand. In 2009, he directed a fictional documentary based on the trial of Véronique Courjault, accused of three infanticides: Parcours meurtrier d'une mère ordinaire (SACD Television Prize and Etoile de la Scam). In 2011, he directed a new fiction, very freely inspired by the Viguier case: La Disparition (Fipa d'Or for best screenplay). He was elected president of SCAM in 2011 for a two-year term. At the same time, he directed the sequel to Soupçons - La dernière chance, a fiction mini-series for Arte, Trois Fois Manon (Fipa d'Or and Critics' Choice Award for Best Series 2014), then Malaterra, the French adaptation of the series Broadchurch for France 2. He then took over the character of Manon three years later for a new trilogy, Manon 20 ans (FIPA for Best Performer and Critics' Prize, Best Series 2017). Laetitia Duguet
Creator - La Maison du Polar / France

A lifelong fan of crime thrillers, Laetitia created La maison du Polar to share her vision of the classics and cult works of the genre, from 7 to 77 years old, and also showcase her favourites and the more or less (mis)known gems that she found over the years. La maison du polar is therefore a website (lamaisondupolar.com) and a free bi-monthly newsletter, both being 100% and positively dedicated to crime thrillers (in the broadest of sense: noir, mystery, neo-polar, espionage, thriller, etc.), from all eras (heritage works and new releases) and in all its forms (novels, films, series, documentaries, comics, news, podcasts, etc.). Laetitia is also co-creator of the Série Series festival with Marie Barraco. Two good reasons to propose together this year Dialogues around crime thrillers. From one universe to another: when thriller writers open their doors to serial adaptation. An opportunity to discover two promising young authors: Fabrice Jambois (Mycélium, 2022, Les Arènes/coll. Equinox) and Diniz Galhos (Hakim, 2020, Asphalte).
